“Take one step at a time.”

This morning whilst having my quiet coffee moment – I reflected on the the story of Jesus calling Peter to walk on water. The disciples were in the boat (which drifted out on the lake as there was a slight wind blowing) sleeping. On waking they saw an image on the water and at first sight they thought it’s a ghost/demon and was terrified at this sight.Jesus asked them not to be afraid as it is, He. Peter called out; Jesus if it is you then call me to come to you. – Come to me.

This morning whilst having my quiet coffee moment – I reflected on the story of Jesus calling Peter to walk on water. The disciples were in the boat (which drifted out on the lake as there was a slight wind blowing) sleeping. On waking they saw an image on the water and at first sight, they thought it was a ghost demon and was terrified at this sight.

Jesus asked them not to be afraid as it is, He. Peter called out; Jesus if it is you then call me to come to you. – Come to me. Jesus called out. Jesus knew Peter was given the Gift to be courageous and to have faith which was buried inside of him. Peter instinctively listened to that voice and stepped out of the boat in complete faith.

It was when Peter felt the wind, looked around him, and saw the waves that he became afraid. It was when he looked around him at his condition not being perfect – looking at it incorrectly, that he became anxious. It was when he was focused on the outside and the natural that he felt he is sinking. That he is drowning  He started having doubts and fear set in.

This is how anxiety strikes. When you look at your situation or yourself as the world or others are telling you to see it. Filled with fear, stress, fear of not getting that job you applied for, fear of failing, fear of having too little or no money, no job, no food, no home or shame or guilt of the past, etc that you become anxious. Are you too focused on the future or past and not focused on right now and what is right there… inside of you. Are you listening to the right voice – Come to me. Listen to me. Do not be afraid.

What is your mind telling you today as you look at your current situation with your natural eye? Is it making you anxious? Are you feeling you are drowning as it is all too much – or is your mind fixed on your inner God Spirit that says – for I have not given you a God Spirit of fear but one of love, courage, and a sound mind?

What are you fixing your eyes on? What is your focus today?
